HSE/Compliance Officer

Area of Business: Compliance Team, HQ Office, Cardiff Bay
Reporting to: Group HSE/Compliance Manager
Location: Cardiff Bay

Role Purpose

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for maintaining the legal and ethical integrity of City Energy Network Ltd intact through policy enforcement and forward planning. The individual will ensure that all departments of the business are complying with the rules and regulations that the company must uphold. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for keeping up to date and advising Managers and Directors how to and what’s required to adhere to these.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and repair legal and ethical issues within the company quickly and effectively
  • Investigate non-compliance issues and irregularities to prevent and protect the company’s integrity and reputation
  • Work with the Group HSE/Compliance Manager to ensure strategies and contingency plans are in place to deal with compliance problems before they arise
  • Keeping up to date with changing standards, policies and laws that govern the Industry the company is in
  • Create and enforce ethical and legal behaviour action plans and methods within the company to ensure no illegal activities occur in the workplace
  • Work with the responsible persons from other departments and be able to report all areas of Compliance to the Group HSE/Compliance Manager
  • Work with the Group HSE/Compliance manager and Host/minute team meetings and where appropriate advising of new and changing laws/regulations/methods of work and short or long-term goals within the company or team.Present performance report and prepare presentation/proposals as assigned
  • Perform various general administration duties relating to compliance and other aspects of the business
  • Encourage a positive work ethic and build strong relationships across all teams within the business
  • Demonstrate expected core behaviours and values including teamwork, focus, drive and determination
  • Develop on specific business objectives agreed with Management and Directors
  • Maintain Installation team’s compliance
  • Be able to prepare, analyse and conduct internal and external audits as well as HSE inspections
  • Promote communication throughout the business and establish a proactive approach to the department
  • Managing/coordinating various aspects of HSE and Compliance

Required Experience


  • Proven experience working in an office environment or relevant role
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Meticulous at checking detail
  • Appropriate experience of operating in a similar role within a medium/large organisation
  • Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate information and influence others
  • Ability to work under pressure and to defined deadlines
  • Ability to organise workloads and to prioritise effectively
  • Knowledge of current H&S practice within the Sector
  • IT literate, with the ability to use the full Microsoft Office package
  • HSE and Environmental policy/law


  • Experience of delivering meetings/minute taking and managing small projects/deliverables
  • Flexible and enthusiastic
  • Quick to adapt and take on new initiatives
  • Self-motivator with the ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Willing to undertake further training which may be required
  • Displaying the behaviours that form part of our culture and adhering to all risk policies and procedures
  • Technical awareness/Knowledge, knowledge of audits around ISO, Eco and technical operations e.g. MCS, Energy efficiency measures or EV (Electric Vehicle)
