Having the right heating controls will enable you to keep your home at a comfortable temperature without wasting fuel or heat.
Regardless of what heating system you have (gas, oil, or LPG), your full set of controls should ideally include a boiler thermostat, a timer or programmer, a room thermostat, and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs). Having a smart heating thermostat means you are in control of the most economical way of heating your home and enables you to remotely access your heating using a mobile or tablet device.
You can upgrade or install heating controls without replacing your boiler, and it’s a particularly good idea to think about this if your controls are more than 10 years old. Room thermostats, for example, are much more accurate now than they used to be.
The set-up is relatively simple and does not affect who your current energy providers are. The software is also accessible from anywhere with a valid internet connection – making it much easier to manage your consumption and reduce frequent energy use.
The benefits of Smart Thermostats include:
- Keep an eye on your home’s temperature
- Accessible anywhere using your mobile phone (or desktop PC)
- A lower demand for use means lower energy bills
- Analyse your energy usage simpler
- Email alerts for a lower temperature reading
